At this time of year most people decide to take a relaxing break in the sun with their feet up. Not our Managing Director Steve Cobham however who recently took a week’s ‘holiday’ to do a charity hike for Cancer Research.
No ordinary sponsored walk, Steve and his wife Mary literally risked life and limb doing an 80k hike across the high Alps, crossing glaciers and at times being hooked in to steel lines on certain sections of the mountains which were particularly steep (i.e. almost vertical!).
On day two of the six day expedition a fellow hiker walking directly in front of Steve lost his footing and fell 100 feet down a sheer rock face into an icy stream below. Steve hiked down the mountain to administer first aid whilst his wife Mary raised the alarm triggering an air lift by the mountain rescue services.
So all in all we are incredibly proud of Steve. Not only did he and his wife play a big part in saving someone from perishing but they also raised almost £900 for Cancer Research, a charity very close to the hearts of so many, including Steve and Mary.
